Please click the link below: https://abnb.me/DqaDam2g10 The Courtyard Apartment is a beautiful, very spacious room, measuring 28 feet by 14 feet (9.4 metres x 5 metres) so plenty of room to move around and be comfortable and suitable for longer stays. It has a very green courtyard outside the room with luscious plants and a bench for smokers. The Courtyard Apartment is NOT lake facing. Rosie's Retreat is in the heart of the Old City of Udaipur. It is located in a back lane just below the City Palace. The lane is unfit for cars and tuk-tuks so only the occasional motorbike disturbs the peace when people are going to work in the morning or returning in the evening. There is paid parking near the City Palace and at Chandpol, both very nearby Rosie's Retreat. The apartment has an attached luxury bathroom and has been tastefully designed with all modern facilities. The traditional bamboo ceilings keep the room cool in summer and warm in winter. There is a spacious and comfortable seating area at one end and the bedroom area is at the other end. All our sockets are International standard making them easy to use for travellers of all nationalities. Free WiFi is provided and we have an invertor power backup system in the event of city power cuts. The bed is a luxury double bed with handmade cotton mattress. We use 100% cotton bedsheets and quilts. The room is fully air-conditioned and there is also a fan and a room heater is provided for chillier nights. There is a large wardrobe in the room with hanging and shelf space for clothes storage. A selection of books and magazines are provided for guests' pleasure. There is a desk and chair where guests can comfortably work on a laptop. Scrabble, Chess, Backgammon and playing cards are there too. There is an iron and ironing board in the room. The fabulous luxury bathroom boasts 'the best power shower in India'. There is a hair dryer, toiletries and our new ladies and gents handblockprinted dressing gowns. Umbrellas are provided should you visit in monsoon time. The room is equipped with a fridge, kettle, cafetiere and toaster. Tea, coffee and sugar are provided , 2 bottles of mineral water per day and milk on arrival. Ajju, the housekeeper, comes daily at 10am to clean. A daily, chargeable, laundry service is available in the morning until 11.30. The laundry will be returned the following day. We do not have staff living on the premises. The property is protected by CCTV. All guests are provided with up to date tourist information which includes where to eat, where to shop and what to see during your stay. Neither Rosie nor her staff accept commission from any traders in Udaipur. The recommendations are simply to help the guest have the best experience in this beautiful city. The house is within two minutes walk of the City Palace, home of the Maharajas of Udaipur, and the famous 15th Century Jagdish Temple with its amazing architecture and intricate stonework. the boat stand, from where to catch one of the regular boats to take you on a sunset voyage around the lake, is practically on the doorstep. There is a rickshaw stand just next to the boat stand with many a willing 'rickshaw wallah' ready to whisk you off on a tour of the old spice, vegetable and pottery markets. Lal Ghat is full of excellent restaurants and interesting antique and vintage stores. There are nightly performances of traditional music and dance just up the street at Bagore ki Haveli. We are lucky enough to have a world class dentist, Dr. Bansal, in Udaipur who cares for clients from all over the world at a fraction of the cost of Western countries. We can arrange day trips to Ranakpur Jain Temple, Dungarpur Juna Mahal and Eklingi Temple amongst many interesting nearby must see places. We are also able to assist guests with travel in India, be it local or further afield. For guests coming to Udaipur to help at Animal Aid Unlimited a reliable tuk tuk driver can be arranged to drop off in the morning and collect in the evening. Despite its central location, Rosie's Retreat is located on a quiet side street and offers a peaceful sanctuary from the bustle of the city. With its romantic sunset views from the terrace it is the perfect base for any couple looking for a holiday with a difference and a 'home from home' in India. Udaipur is universally known as one of the worlds most romantic cities, earning itself the nickname 'Venice of the East'. Come and enjoy! (website hidden) Reaching Udaipur at night is a fairytale with lights flickering on every side of the city's famed centrepiece, the Lake Palace Hotel ((website hidden)) I'm reunited with a dear friend, Rosie Cornwalliswho I haven't seen since the ‘80's, when we worked together at Crolla in London (she married the boss and has ancestors who were Governors of India!) and she's now based in Udaipur. We stay at her beautiful lakeside apartment which she lets through Ashton Kutcher's website (website hidden). It's totally gorgeous and great to be in our own place with its beautiful roof terrace overlooking the lake. The apartment is filled with her lovely collection of antiques and unluckily for my baggage allowance it's all for sale - I buy a fab painted mirror with a pink Hindu God on it! Dinner's next door at Jagat Niwas ((email hidden)) - we drink far too many bottles of wine over hysterical stories of how naughty we were back in the day! Next day she takes us on a tour down tiny lanes of the Old city to her secret antique haunts where I find glass beaded panels and Indian silver, all which will be appearing in my next Aboydbazaar ((website hidden)) having been redesigned to make them into something modern and contemporary. We say our goodbyes then travel on to Devi Garh ((website hidden)) , an hour outside Udaipur and the most beautiful palace I think I've ever seen. Showered with red rose petals as we walk through the massive entrance, we spend a listless and wonderfully relaxing day by the pool ,exploring the palace and generally recharging as tomorrow we leave Rajasthan and head across the border into Gujarat.extre This room has a small terrace with lots of lush greenery and a bench for smokers. It is a very large room on the ground floor of the house. It does NOT have a lake view. Please note that check in is after 12 noon to allow time for room preparation. Guests can contact either myself or the manager, Parikshit, at any time either by telephone or email. The manager, Parikshit, is always around to help with any problems if I am not in Udaipur. Rosie's Retreat is within walking distance of all the major attractions, restaurants and shops. There is a rickshaw stand one minutes walk from the house. Lakecity Holidays Travel Agency is on Lal Ghat and Aditya will happily make any travel arrangements for my guests whether it be flight tickets, bus, train or taxi.
